Kolkata: West Bengal Bengal Head Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday inaugurated the ‘Duare Ration’ scheme (ration in front of the door), saying it would benefit around 10 crore people in the state.
Banerjee said his government had decided to increase the ration’s dealer commission from Rs 75 to Rs 150 per quintal foodgrain.
“The scheme of the Dansum of the Institute will help 10 crore people from the country.
I will ask all the ration dealers to make it successful …
many countries try to imitate the West Bengal scheme,” he said when marking a program at the Netaji Stadium in Kolkata.
Banerjee has announced the scheme, where dealers will provide rations on the doorstep of the beneficiaries, before the assembly election was held in March-April this year.
He said the government would provide around 21,000 ration dealers with financial assistance each RS 1 lakh to buy vehicles to provide rations to people in this way.
He asked the ration dealer not to move the objection of the court with the plan.
The Dealer section has moved the Calcutta High Court to the scheme but their request is junked.
In this program, Banerjee also inaugurated the WHATSAPP chatbot for the food department and supply of state government and cellular applications, ‘Khadya Sathi: Ransya Amar’ mobile application to help people apply for a ration card and get information about how to do it.
