Panaji: aims to empower rural women, Chairman of the Pramod Ministers Sawant on Sunday launched www.goabazaar.org which will provide an online platform for the Swadaya group (SHG) to sell homemade products.
Sawant said that the state government would provide land in public places to establish a kiosk to sell products made by SHGS.
After launching a website, Sawant said with the local product website will get the international market, adding that the state government will surrender land in public places such as buses preparing stalls.
Rural Development Minister Michael Lobo said, “We will not leave without stone missed to establish kiosks throughout the state to sell products.” Lobo urged the minister’s head to drain land in 10 different locations for stalls.
“If the soil is transferred to the department, I will establish a kiosk in a month,” Lobo said.
This website serves a variety of authentic homemade Goani food, handicrafts, home decoration items, organic agricultural products, services, embroidery products on 12 blocks of Goa.
With this the government aims to make women in independent villages financially and help improve the rural economy.
More than 200 products from 157 shg are available to be purchased through the Goa Bazaar website and more products will be added later.
Customers can search and buy products made by SHGS and also learn more about craftsmen.
At present the Mission of Country Country (GSRLM) works with 3,000 SHG which includes 36,000 households.
