T’puram: The center has agreed to increase the stretch of Kerala road connecting Kannur Airport to Mysuru traveling through Mattanur, Koottupuzha, Makkoottam, Virajpet, and Madikeri as a national highway, said Pinarayi Vijayan.
Vijayan said that the decision was taken during his meeting with the Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi on Wednesday.
In-principle decisions have been taken to build a ring road from Parirdi to Vizhinjam, added Vijayan.
It is estimated that the project will cost 4,500 crore Rs.
The state has requested that the center must bear the cost of the project, while the state will bear 50% of the cost of land acquisition.
Further discussion at the level of official will be carried out in this case, said Vijayan.
The meeting also decided to include 11 roads in the state under the Bharatmala project.
