Mumbai: Former Police Commissioner of the City of Param Bir Bir Singh has told Ed “There was pressure directly from the Minister of Internal Affairs Anil Deshmukh and direct instructions from Aaditya Thackeray and Chair of the Minister of Uddhav Thackeray” to restore (now – dismissed) Cop Sachin Waze.
Waze, who assistant police inspector, was suspended for about 16 years because of his role in alleged murder of Khwaja Yunus in police custody.
He was restored in June 2020.
Singh said he was ordered to post Waze to the branch of the city police crime.
He told Ed that Waze who was later claimed by Deshmukh had demanded Rs 2 Crore for this post.
Pointing on Waze’s statement for Ed that he raised money from the bar owner for “No.
1″, Singh said this term was used by the police for minister at home, while the police chief was referred to as “king”.
