Chennai: If the DMK government has thought of getting rid of the former name of the Minister of Jayalalithaa, there will be no Amma canteen in the state, said Tamil Nadu CM M Stalin on Thursday.
CM said this while denied the demands of the opposition AIADMK that the decision to infiliated the new Dr.
Jayalalithaa University was created to Annamalai University as “hostility”.
The Assembly witnessed the argument that was heated between the former Minister K P Anbazhagan and the Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi for this issue.
While participating in the debate about requests for grants for the Department of Higher Education, Anbazhagan alleged that the government wanted to get rid of the university named CM before.
Ponmudi said that the government had made decisions in the best interests of the students.
Parents and teaching faculties also hope the same, he said.
He criticized the previous AIDMK government by saying that it was only an announcement and it did not allocate funds and identified land for universities.
He further said the government had previously announced the formation of 13 new universities and had not created infrastructure for institutions.
They function in rented buildings.
“Now, we will create infrastructure for four of them,” said Minister.
Given the shift of the Secretariat of Estate Omandurar, which was built in the DMK regime (2006-2011), the minister said the AIDMK member could not talk about hostility.
Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami and other party legislators walked out of assembly condemning the decision to affiliate the University of Dr.
Jayalalithaa to Annamalai University.
Before leaving the Assembly, EPS and Anbazhagan echoed that it was the act of “hostility” politics.
AIDMK member P Munusamy shouted that it was a hostility, forcing Stalin to refute the allegations.
