Patna: express satisfaction on the procurement of a record of 32.61 lakh metric ton (MT) Paddy in Bihar until February 1 this year, CM Nith Kumar on Wednesday asked officials to immediately work to achieve the year of the year of rice procurement in the state.
The state has been given a 45 lakh MT Paddy procurement target in the current marketing season of Kharif 2021-22.
When reviewing progress in the procurement of rice through video conferencing from the ‘Sankalp’ Hall residence of CM, Nitish said this year February 15 had been repaired as the last date for the procurement of rice.
“All farmers who are interested must take advantage of the procurement of rice within the deadline,” he said.
CM said, “In Bihar, we begin the process of procuring rice, before several other states, through the main agricultural cooperative society (PACS).

Nitish also said his government was ready to provide all possible assistance to farmers.
CM also said at Bihar, a large number of people preferred to consume ‘USNA’ (parebel) rice.
Demand for parboiled rice is more than other categories.
He asked officials to work towards an increase in the number of rice factories that produced parebel rice.
“Miller of ‘Arwa’ rice must also be motivated to change their factory to produce rice ‘USNA’,” Nitish said.
Previously, Secretary of the Secretary of the Cooperative Department, Praya Bandana, through a presentation, told CM about the procurement of ongoing rice in various districts.
He said rice was bought in all districts according to the target.
Preyasi also told CM that the record for the procurement of 32.61 lakh MT rice from 4.5 lakh farmers has so far been made in the state.
Similarly, the Secretary of the Department of Food and Consumer Protection Vinay Kumar, through a separate presentation, informs CM about the latest status of rice procurement, the target and status of the rice factory in the current marketing season of Kharif 2021-22.
He also told CM that the process of procurement of rice began gradually.
“Payment of farmers is being carried out on time, and timely payments have benefited farmers,” Vinay said.
