CM Soren to launch a secure migration initiative today

Ranchi: Taking a signal of the success of the intervention of various groups of experts in dealing with the crisis of migrant workers during covid-19-induced locking, the State Government Labor Department, Labor Training and Skills Development All are regulated to launch a safe and responsible migration initiative (SRMI) , 18-month project in the state.
The program will be launched by Minister of Hemant Soren on Thursday, thus paving the way for policy discussions and mapping results with the help of various groups of experts.
The multi-stakeholder initiative, the SRMI of the Ministry of Manpower will be supported by the Omidyar network that works with convergence of business and international technology.
This will be carried out by the Consortium of Policy and Development of Advisory Groups (PDAG), partners to the Action Foundation (Phia), Migration Center and Inclusive Development (CMID) and Bharti Institute of Public Policy of the Indian School of Business Business.
During the 18-month period, the consortium will develop evidence-based policies and driven data to overcome the problems faced by migrant workers.
The main objectives of the consortium are to increase social security and welfare coverage for migrant workers and their families through institutional policies and operational frameworks.
“We will enable systemic registration of migrant workers so that they can be monitored and the database helps analyze to enable best practices in the source and destination district,” said one of the Labor Department officials.
The idea also rotates to create awareness about safe and responsible migration practices through special campaigns.
For a better understanding of the role of some partners and to come out with a quantified benchmark to assess the results of the intervention, two panel discussions will take part in the launch ceremony on Thursday.
Policy makers and academics will explain the common problems faced by migrant workers, the success story of institutional intervention and the ways of state government adopting to map the results.
The first panel consisting of six experts from the Government, CMID and PDAG will discuss migration between countries: learning from Covid-19 pandemic while the second panel of the government, the omidyar network, Phia and BIPP will be intentional after mapping invisible technology: and the role of the country in mapping migration.
Apart from CM, the prime session will be attended by Labor Minister Satyanand Bhokta, Head of Secretary of Sukhdev Singh and Special Secretary of Niti Aayog, K Rajeshwara Rao.
