CNG prices to be approached by Rs 2.58 per kg today

Mumbai: The price of compressed natural gas (CNG) will be carried out by Rs 2.58 per kg from Wednesday morning while the gas level cooking pipe will increase 55 Paise per unit.
Thus, the price of the CNG revision includes all taxes in the Mumbai Metropolitan region (MMR) will be Rs 51.98 per kg, while the pipeline gas rate will increase to RS30.40 per unit (slab 1) and Rs 36 per unit (slab 2).
This is the second increase for consumers in Mumbai, Thane, Kalyan, Vasai-Virar and Navi Mumbai in five months.
Previously in February, the price of CNG was approached by RS1.50 per kg while domestic PNG (gas cooking) increased by 95 Paise per unit.
“The increase has been carried out to cover a portion of the increase in operational costs and additional expenditure due to the increasing cost of gas pipeline transportation,” said Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) spokesman Neer Asthana-Phate.
He further said that after revisions, CNG still offered savings of around 67% and 47% compared to gasoline and diesel at the current price level in Mumbai.
Prices of gasoline and diesel have witnessed a series of hikes lately, with gasoline now retail at Rs 107.20 per liter in Mumbai, while the revised diesel level is Rs 97.29 per liter.
As for cooking gas, a MGL official said he offered savings of 35% compared to the current domestic LPG prices.
