Co-living spaces Transformed into Shield Houses for migrants

HYDERABAD: In an effort to make certain that migrants who’ve lost their jobs through Covid-19 second tide do not walk back to home, several entrepreneurs from town has transformed co-living spaces to some refuge where they offer free lodging and meals to the migrants.
Tikaana Coliving, the most common lodging company, has leased out 18 buildings having a capacity of 2,000 beds to accommodate to blue collar workers like security guards, resort staff, nursing personnel, building workers, housekeeping employees amongst others.
Observing the Covid-19 lockdown, the team of entrepreneurs chose to convert the facility to some totally free lodging for migrants who’ve lost their jobs through the next wave.
“From the first wave, we found lakhs of researchers walking back to their own hometowns because of lack of livelihood.
This moment, once the next wave struck, we chose to extend aid to each of such individuals to make certain they don’t endure,” said Karthik Reddy, co-founder of all Tikaana Coliving, that runs the business with two different partners _ Prudhvi Reddy along with Raghu Bojja.
The centre, which also includes a centralised kitchen, now homes 600 migrant employees.
The business isn’t only offering free lodging and meals but also helping migrants locate job opportunities.
“Six months ago I came into the city to operate in a resort.
Because of this lockdown, I lost my work.
In a time once I was considering going straight home, among my client’s told me regarding Tikaana at which I wasn’t just given free lodging and meals however, was also utilized within their centralised kitchen to get a monthly salary of Rs 10,000,” explained Bhima Shankar, also a resident of Gulbarga.
