Pune: Order for advanced Vistadome coaches from Queen Deccan, who will operate from August 15, has impressed from Pune to Mumbai.
Booking opened from August 8 for all 44 seats in the coach.
Booked from Mumbai to Pune, on the other hand, not too good.
Train officials said the train time for travel from Mumbai to Pune was the main reason for fewer reservations.
“The train left Mumbai at night and reached Pune late at night.
When the train runs through the Ghat between Karjat and Lonavla, it is dark and passengers cannot enjoy the view,” said an official Pune Rail to Ti.
All seats were booked on August 15 and 16 and there was a waiting list for Pune-Mumbai trips.
About three to 12 seats are available for pune-mumbai travel from August 17 to August 20 (no seats available on August 19).
However, six to 31 seats are available from 16 to 20 August for Mumbai to Pune travel (train number: 02123).
A central train official said all chairs for Mumbai-Pune’s trip had also ordered but the IRCTC website showed the opposite.
A senior train official (Mumbai) was contacted for clarity but the answer was awaited until the press.
Before this, the central train has introduced the coach above Express DECCAN on June 26 and the seats have been fully booked on almost every day.
The rates of the seats in coach Vistadome Queen DECCAN are RS 915 and rising Deccan Express is Rs 835.
“I will definitely take a ride from Mumbai to Pune to the coach once and see it himself,” Kailash Dixit, Regular commuter, told TII.
