Coal companies are asked to provide priority supplies to thermal power plants: Government

New Delhi: The Government on Tuesday said special instructions have been given to coal companies to provide a priority supply in thermal power plants that have critical stock levels, and dry fuel stocks in plants are expected to stabilize in the next few days.
Development came after a report of the thermal power plant unit throughout the country wrestling with a deficiency of coal.
“Secretary (Coal) has provided special instructions to coal companies to provide priority supplies to all TPPs that have a critical stock level and to focus on liquidation of stocks from mines that have high stock levels,” the Coal Ministry said in a statement.
The ministry said everything was directed towards the issue of stock buildup at the end of the thermal power plant (TPP) during the rainy season.
It can be noted that coal shares with Indian coal Ltd (CIL) are adequate to meet the increasing demand of power witnessed in the country since July this year.
Coal supply for power plants is monitored at the highest level in the ministry every day in coordination with the Ministry of Strength, Railway and Coal Company.
“Secretary (Coal) has reviewed the supply scenario with a coal company on August 27 and August 30,” said the statement.
He has redured further that in terms of the problem of availability in mines related to alternative sources allocated for the smooth plants.
This delivery was synchronized by the Ministry of Power’s advisor.
CIL has increased its coal supply with enthusiasm for the last five days of August consistently recorded 1.7 million tons (MT) per day.
Increasing supply to coal power plants, CIL pumps coal 1.36 MT per day.
The average loading of the last three days to the electricity sector has touched 1.4 MTs.
Coal supplies with TPP only take in July and have been in a historic position since then.
All efforts are being carried out in collaboration with the train authority to increase shipments to meet unprecedented demand growth for coal-based power.
The subsidiary of Cil has raised their loading with commensurate with the applicable request scenario.
Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in the record performance has been sent 102 Rakes on Monday.
CIL has registered the highest loading since July 285 Rakes in one day on Monday from SILS.
The depletion of coal shares in TPP is now a lot of reduced.
