Chennai: accusing the difference between notes and stock on hand, Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji said Friday that about 2.4 lakh tonnes of coal had been lost in the North Chennai Thermal Power Station (NCTPS).

“This happens because AIDMK government inefficiency.
We will set the deviation and provide transparent administration,” said the Minister.
Utilities Power-Run State, Tangedco, has ordered an investigation into the stock of coal at Tuticorin Thermal Power Station and Mettur.
Tangedco Committee of Senior Officials, which carry out an investigation on the 4th and 9th of August, found no difference because the record does not reflect the actual coal stock on March 31, 2021.
“An investigation to find out whether the coal is unloaded from the ship or not, or if the register is manipulated.
Offenders , whoever they are, will face action, “said Minister to Toi.
While NCTPS I and II to handle 9.9 lakh tonnes of coal per month received from the coal fields Talcher and IB Valley in Odisha, Mettur TPS gets coal from Singareni collieries in Andhra Pradesh.
Coal is also imported from Indonesia.
Sources told TOI that the panel established by Tangedco on August 2 after being admitted to official notice that the stock of coal in NCTPS-1 and Tuticorin TPS less than what was reported.
The team assigned to inspect and review the coal stocking procedures, accounting, stock accordance book store and the actual coal stocks, and the reason for the variation in the five thermal power station.
The report should be submitted within two weeks.
