Coast Gears up for Ganesh Chaturthi in the middle of a pandemic

Mangaluru: The city will celebrate Chaturthi Ganesh in a weak way this year like last year.
This festival, is celebrated with a lot of enthusiasm and excitement here, usually witnessing a large procession and crowd.
However, because Covid-19 Pandemics, and with the state government limit the festival only for rituals, celebrations will be the low key this year too.
Even the celebration at home will be a scary business.
“We have celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi for the last 52 years at home.
All of our friends and family will join us for a celebration day.
However, because Covid-19, only our family members will take part in this year’s celebration, such as last year , “said Vikram Kamath, a resident of Balmatta.
In Dakshina Kannada where Ganeshotsava is celebrated with POMP, a pandemic has become a Dampner.
Dakshina District Administration Kannada has directed the organizer to be symbolically holding Ganeshotsava.
There is no permission for pandal in public places and celebrations is only allowed in the temple, hall and home, with a number of limited worshipers.
Mohan Rao’s final family at Mannagudda, who has made Ganesh’s idols for the last 91 years, they have made 230 idols this year.
“We make idols after receiving orders before hand every year.
Previously, some ordinary people took our idols abroad, but had stopped,” idol makers said.

Only a few people plan to have a general ganeshotsava celebration, and one of them will be in a sanganiketan, who has done the event for the past 75 years.

Meanwhile, the market is flooded by vegetables and flowers that must be during Ganesh Chaturthi.
