MANGALURU: The Coast Guard has rescued 10 riders out of a ship that was stranded at the sea, about 20 nautical miles from the New Mangaluru shore.
A distress message in the ship was sent through quite substantial frequency into ICG’s Maritime Rescue Sub Coordination Centre (MRSC).
After getting the data, the Coast Guard immediately redirected high rate boat C 448 on patrol for help and Indian Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Rajdoot has been spanned by the port, stated DIG SB Venkatesh.
The fishing vessel had taken refuge at Porbandar on May 14 because of cyclonic storm Tauktae.
The ship had set sail from Porbandar on May 19 and whilst confronting the seas out of Porbandar enrouteoff New Mangalore, the ship struck motor failure.
Meanwhile, the motorized sailing boat Al Badriya MNG- 471 was asked by the Coast Guard to offer tow help until ICGS Rajdoot arrived.
Afterwards, ICGS Rajdoot attracted the stranded ship to security around Old Port harbour.
From those 10 fishermen rescued, seven are in Tamil Nadu and three are out of Kerala.
