CALANGUTE: The Coastal Zone Management Authority of Goa (GCZMA) has, in a recent order, directed that the beachfront club in Candolim was sealed because it caused environmental damage.
Orders come to follow complaints submitted by the CRADUSE Constitution (CCF) forum.
CCF, through candolim residents, has submitted a complaint in March who accused that the beach club in Vaddy, Candolim, has been built by damaging the beach, sand dunes and beach vegetation.
According to CCF, the structure consists of restaurants, washing rooms, swimming pools, decks and other facilities.
Following complaints, GCZMA has issued a show causing notification to coastal club owners, but they failed to appear for trial.
When the owner failed to respond, GCZMA had recently provided orders stating, “the authority argues that the main environmental damage is being caused by property that is considered and mantas to avoid further environmental damage, the property needs to be sealed and the operation commercially must be stopped immediately.” However, Apart from the orders of GCZMA on October 14, where the beach club has not been sealed on Wednesday night, said CCF President Premer Divkar.
