Ahmedabad: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Thursday Understanding South African citizens and recovered from Him Cocaine worth Rs 20 Crore at Ahmedabad International Airport, said an official.
The drug was found hidden in a protein supplement package, he said.
Defendant, Derick Pillay (38), Nabbed on his arrival at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here from Doha, said S K Mishra, Zonal Director of the Ahmedabad NCB unit.
“He had taken a flight from Johannesburg on August 11.
Our team worked with the immigration bureau and intercepted the suspect on his arrival here.
We recovered 4.2 kg of cocaine from his ownership.
The contraband was hidden neatly in protein supplement packages for the Dodge authorities , “Mishra said.
The source said that the cocaine was confiscated by Rs 20 Crore according to the current level in the international market.
“NCB is overseeing international drug smugglers, because we have received information about drug trafficking through the airport.
Pillay has been on our radar for some time and the NCB Delhi unit has issued a circle,” Mishra said, “said adding that further investigation was ongoing.
In the release, the NCB zonal unit claimed that the seizure of 4.2kg cocaine “was one of the seizure of the largest cocaine from the SVP international airport for many years”.
