LONDON: SEVENEEN-EA-YEAR-Old American Coco Gauff matches the debut of his debut Wimbledon when he returned to the fourth round with a 6-3 defeat, 6-3 Kaja Juvan on Saturday.
Gauff, the 23rd seed, invaded through the opening game with a series of power serving in the central court but was asked several questions awkwardly by Juvan ranked 102nd.
As he often did, Gauff had all the answers because he reached the second week and the last 16-16 match with the former German Wimbledon champion, Angelique Kerber.
When Gauff reached the fourth round as a 15-year-old qualification in 2019, it was a sensation.
Two years later, despite his age and played only in his seventh Grand Slam tournament, the progress of the gauff was far more surprising and he is now a serious title competitor.
Gauff competed to lead 5-1 against Juvan in 18 minutes but briefly went to boil because he lost the next two matches.
After winning the opening set, he then set the advantage in the second.
Even though Slovenia Juvan struggled persistently, he could not tap the gaif from his steps.
Gauff has not lost a set at Wimbledon this year but it needs to be the best to pass Kerber.
