Coimbatore: The Public Health Department will drive mass vaccination on Saturdays on Sunday to benefit more people.
“Many people spend Sundays to drink liquor, which has affected vaccination figures.
So, it was decided to drive vaccination on Saturday this week,” an official said.
More than 2 lakh people are expected to benefit from the drive, which will be carried out at 1,000 places in the district.
The department has launched a social media campaign to achieve the first 100% dose vaccination.
Deputy Director of Health Services P Aruna said that vaccination drives will be carried out on Sundays too, so people can visit camps on holidays.
So far, 94% of the eligible population in the district has received the first dose.
More than 2 people have not received the first dose.
As many as 3.59 lakh people, who qualified for the second dose, will receive phone calls and messages to remind them to use mass vaccination drives.
