Coimbatore: A 59-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for attacking a woman with acid in Ammankulam.
The woman allegedly had an extraminated affair with the son-in-law of the person arrested.
The police competition course identified the defendant as Elangovan from Chettipalayam.
Daughter-in-law of Elangovan M Chandrasekar, 40, from Vallalar Nagar having an affair with a 34-year-old construction worker from Ammankulam.
The woman’s husband, Indigenous Dharmapuri District, was a chandrasekar friend for eight years, when they worked as a construction worker.
The woman separated from her husband and moved to Ammankulam.
He and Chandraskar developed extramarital affairs a few months ago, said a police officer.
“Chandraskar stopped caring for his wife and children.
Elangovan faced his son-in-law, when he came about his relationship, and asked him to leave the woman and stay with his family.
But Chandrasek continued to see the woman.
