Coimbatore-karur road to become four lanes soon

Coimbatore: The state government will make efforts to start four lanings from Coimbatore – Karur Road in three years, the Department of Public Works and Minister of Highways EV Velu said.
The minister, who led the meeting to review the highway and PWD in Coimbatore on Tuesday, told reports that there was a request for four coimbatore – Karur Highway Laning because the stretch had become prone to accidents.
“Demand has been submitted to the Government Government.
Efforts will be taken in 2024 to expand the road to the four pathway,” he said.
Pampering for Urban S Muthusamy Housing and Development, Minister of Information and Publicity MP Samination, Minister of Forest Kayalvizhi, Minister of Kayalvizhi Selvaraj, Officials of the Ministry of Public Works and Highway Department of Coimbatore, Nilgiris, Tirupur, Erode, and collectors in the district participating in the meeting.
Velu Said that as many as 230 projects were being carried out by PWD at a RS costs at a cost of 1,582 crore in five districts.
From here, 51 projects worth RS 362 Crore are being applied in Coimbatore District while in Tirupur, 68 works on expenditure on RS 496 Crore are being carried out.
“I have instructed officials who should have no work below standard.
All structures built by PWD must be of perfect quality.
Raw materials such as sand, cement and concrete must be tested for their quality,” Velu said.
“I have asked officials to conduct periodic checks to ensure that quality material is used.
In Coimbatore, the ongoing flyover works will be accelerated,” he said.
Write that the Minister and Official have highlighted the need for more projects in their districts, Velu said that there was a subway demand in Tirupur, Rail Over Bridges and solutions for roads that were often damaged during landslides in nilgiris and widening of the road that passed the forest area in Erode.
The road project was postponed because of the land acquisition process, the Minister said.
“Revenue officers must prioritize land acquisition and accelerate work so the project is not delayed,” he added.
