Coimbatore: Pandemic leaves idol makers in improvements as a Festival season approach

Coimbatore: uncertainty over the celebration of Vinayaka Chaturthi has regarding idol markers in the city very hard.
While they used to get orders for Ganesh’s idols at this time this year, this year they have so far only received calls asking about district administration opportunities that enable them to celebrate festivals in public places in public places.

Yoganantham, an idol maker, said he used to make 700 to 800 idols between 3.5ft and 13ft high in one normal year.
“I haven’t made idols in that category so far this year.
Everything is also not different last year.
While I used to make 5,000-6,000 small idols, this year I only produced less than 2,000 of them.” Last year, he said, the state government has begun to limit casually at this time.
“But the infection seems to increase now.
We will not take the amount of down payment from the client until we get a clear picture of what is in the store.”
