Coimbatore: Police have registered a case against former Minister of Administration S P Velumani and some MLA AIADMK for violating Covid-19 norms at City airport on Saturday night.
The AIDMK cadre score, along with the MLAS party, has gathered at the airport to receive Velumani, which flew down from Chennai at around 3:30 p.m.
on Saturday, without maintaining social distance.
Velumani, who is Sitting Thonbamuthur Mla, was taken to the main road from the airport with an open van.
It should be noted that Velumani went in Chennai during a search carried out by the Directorate of Precautions and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) Sleuth at home and building members of his family a few days ago.
It was his first visit to his hometown after Raid DVAC.
Police Sub-Inspector Rajkumar filed a complaint with the Peellamedu police on the same night, stating the leaders of AIADMK and cadres had gathered at the airport inevitly and they did not maintain the social distance while accepting the former Minister of Velumani.
The Peellamedu Police then registered a case against Velumani, Aiadmk Mlaas Kr Jayaraman, Amman Arjunan, Prg Artarkumar, MSM Anandan, Vijayakumar, Kandasamy, AK Selvaraj and 42 others under the Section 143 (Lalai Assembly), 269 (negligent actions tended to spread dangerous disease infections for Life), 341 (penalty for wrong restraints) from the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) was read with section 192 (a) of the actions of motorized vehicles.
