Coimbatore: Health officials on Tuesday said they had sealed a spinning plant near NeeBur on the outskirts of the city on July 30 after 15 workers were tested positive for Covid-19 on July 29.
A health official was recognized to the Covid Care Center in the Codissia trade exhibition complex and they recover well.
The remaining four are nursing mothers, which are stored in the house quarantine under the constant monitoring of health officials.
The official said workers live in compact houses on the Mill Spinning campus in Aachankulam Village in Neehaambur.
Clusters were identified by the Department of Health officers during their random inspection for diseases such as influenza in Neehaambur Panchayat on July 25, when one inmates in a house complained of cold pain and the body.
“The four member team was sent to the next day to collect the wipers of all 54 workers on the factory campus for Covid-19 testing.
And when the test results came on July 29, 15 of them from 11 houses, mostly women, found positive for viruses, “said a health inspector.
Officials sealed the factory on 30 July and imposed a fine of RS5,000 because it failed to comply with the standard operating procedure (SOP).
The factory, the official said, was in an isolated location, far from the residential area.
Except for a truck with workers who came from Maharashtra on July 19 to take threads from the factory, the periphery did not visit the place for more than a month, he said.

Omar Faroque, the medical officer of the tulur block, said, “They (trucks with workers) can be a source of infection.
The factory fails to tell authorities about their arrival.
Every individual from other countries must be tested for Covid-19 on arrival and is permitted for work only if the result is negative.
The factory fails on the front of this, creates a cluster.
The factory was disinfected for the past three days.
“This district, meanwhile, recorded 208 fresh Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, took the case tally to 2,30.012, at where 2,043 is an active case.
With 169 patients issued from the hospital and Covid treatment center that day, the number of patients recovered now has touched 2,25,787.
The district also reported four Covid-19 deaths on that day, pushing tolls to 2,182.
Health officials say anywhere between 10,000 and 12,000 samples are collected in the district every day for testing.
Tirupur neighbors recorded 85 fresh cases that day, even when 124 patients were dismissed from various treatment centers.
While 88,072 people have tested the positive virus until the date in Tirupur, 86,335 of them have recovered.
At present, there are only 891 active cases in Tirupur, which recorded five Covid deaths on Tuesday.
At least 25 patients have given up on the virus in Tirupur in the last five days.
