Coimbatore: Take steps to contain the spread of dengue, said Minister MA Subramanian

Coimbatore: Saying 342 Dengue Cases Reported throughout the State in the last two weeks, Minister of Health MA Subramanian on Wednesday asked the district administration and local agencies to take adequate steps to contain its spread.
He said they had prepared 86,000 people for deadly fever during the period and 342 of them found positive for dengue fever.
The minister said only 26,000 people were played for dengue fever in a comparable period of last year.
“This year, we have done 60,000 more tests and it helps us identify many cases.” The minister spoke after inaugurating a newly born new care unit at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital.
Built at a cost of Rs 1.5 Crore, 80-bed facilities will help babies born before the past, which weigh less than 1.5 kg and babies born with anomalies related to the heart or default disease.
While the hospital has a neo-christmas treatment unit, this additional facilities will take care of newborns that need special care.
Subramanian said they did not experience guards against Covid-19 after swimming above the daily burden and at least 1.5 lakh people were filtered every day for infection through the RT-PCR test.
He said at least 11,000 RT-PCR tests were carried out every day in Coimbatore only.
“We have not compromised the testing and maintained at the same level in May this year.” When asked about alleged malpractice by a private Covid testing laboratory, Subramanian said they were conducting a random quality inspection in the laboratory and took action against the wrong.
The minister said the drive of mass vaccination would not be held on Sunday (17 Oct) because of a puja holiday.
Referring to the delayed approval for 800 medical seats in medical colleges who have just begun, the minister said the national medical commission team is expected to review the infrastructure of four new medical colleges immediately.
“While the team has shown several anomalies in infrastructure during their previous visit, a team led by Director of Medical Education has visited New Delhi for discussion.
The necessary changes have been carried out and approved expected during the team withdrawal,” he said.
