Coimbatore: The road from Saravanampatti to Puliyampatti will be widened

Coimbatore: National Highways (NH) wing from the State Highway Department is ready to expand the road from Saravanampatti to PuliyamPatti at a cost of Rs 100 Crore, which has been approved by the Trade Union Government.
At present, the stretch of 32km is only seven meters wide.
The plan is to expand the width of the road up to 10 meters.
An NH official said stretches, who often see solid traffic, is an accident-prone area.
“Many educational institutions and industry units will come throughout the stretch of Saravanampatti-Annur.
We have decided to expand the road width with 1.5 meters on each side of the Saravanampatti-Annur-Puliampatti stretch.
No need to acquire land for this project.
However, we must fall Some hundred trees on both sides of the stretch.
To compensate for it, we will plant trees along the avinashi road, where we have enough space.
“He said they had sent detailed reports to transportation and Jalan Raya Union Road two months ago and the ministry had given Sanction Rs 100 Crore for the project.
“We plan to start work in March 2022.
The work will not affect the traffic on the stretch.
We do not plan medians.
After widening the road, fatal and non-fatal accidents on stretches tend to drop dramatically.”
