Coimbatore: The rural police arrested a 45-year-old woman on Sunday for killing her three-month-old granddaughter and injured her three-month-old granddaughter at Nagappa Nagar at Kavundampalayam on Thursday.
The woman who was arrested was identified as Shanthi, wife of a special sub-inspector in the Madurai district.
“His daughter Aishwarya, 24, had gone to a medical store on Thursday, leaving the twins with Shanthi, who suffered from depression.
He killed his grandson Aryan and tried to kill his grandson B Aarika Sri.
Aishwarya took the children to a private hospital, where boy It was declared dead.
The girl’s condition is stable.
Meanwhile, Shanthi escaped.
He promised his golden ear buttons in a pawnshop and managed to reach his house in the Madurai district, “said a police officer.
Shanthi was arrested from his home on Sunday and was taken back to the Thudiangur police station.
He was ordered under Section 302 (murder) and 307 (an attempt to kill) from the Criminal Code.
