COLATE: Footfall Weekends at the ‘Best Mall So far’ post relaxation

Kolkata: For malls throughout the city, this weekend – after relaxation of further time of July 16 and the resumption of the Metro – is the best so far in one month of operation since Covid’s induced restrictions are enforced.
People’s footsteps and sales run to the north and will be better, if the metro operates on weekends.
“This weekend has become the best so far from a business perspective.
Our two malls (downtown 1 and downtown 2) are very dependent on public transportation and resumption of Metro services have added footsteps, which have resulted in sales,” said Ramesh Pandey, Director, Ambuja Neotia Group.
Deputy President of South Mall City, Manmohan Bagree, said, “This is the best weekend we have experienced so far.
The business has definitely improved.
We have seen good growth compared to last year too.” GM Acropolis Mall, K Vijayan, echoed Bagree that This is the best weekend since relaxation.
“For us, leg growth this weekend is 30% -40%.
Saturday is the best with 15,000-20,000 footsteps.
Overall, the Acropolis has witnessed more than 50,000 footsteps this weekend,” he said.
Vice President Quest Mall, Sanjiv Mehra, was not very GaGa about relaxation from July 16, even though he felt that the situation this time was far better than the first wave.
Quest operates from 11am to 8:30 a.m.
“Footfall this week was good but compared to last weekend it was more or less the same.
But it was clearly much better than the situation while unlocking after the first wave,” he said.
Because asked about towing the largest crowd in the mall and categories that encourage current sales growth, Bagree shows that food and drinks as usual are the largest sales categories that are now followed by electronics.
On the Acropolis too, the highest sales category is F & B followed by footwear, cosmetics, and jewelry.
