Kolkata: Police have charged more than 25,000 people in the last two weeks since the new phase of the night limitation was reintroduced on January 2 and special drives launched by administration to ensure that their citizens wore their masks.
When it came to compliance with the limitation of the night, the police said they had observed several changes in the last 15 days.
With the police cracked down on the driver’s post 10 in the morning, the number of people who obeyed the limitation increased.
“When we continued the limitation of the night this month, we arrested more than 850 offenders every night.
At present, this number has dropped to 700,” said a senior officer in Lalbazar.
However, the police said violations increased 25% -30% on weekends, especially Friday and Saturday.
