Chennai: Chennai District collector Dr.
J Vijaya Rani has warned of crackdown against women’s hostels who work without permits operating in the city.
In a statement here on Thursday, collectors say that the right action will begin with such facilities it functions as a woman’s hostel who works in a rental independent house without obtaining the necessary licenses and infrastructure.
Tamil Nadu Hostels and Homes for Women and Children (Regulation) Act, 2014 CCTV camera installation mandate, registry maintenance and availability of 17 square feet of space for each inmates in the hostel.
The next statement said that only 26 women’s hostels of private workers in the city had approached Kolectoran in the past three years looking for licenses.
In 2019, the district government directed all the hostels of women of personal workers to register and get licenses.
