Surat: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday detained a lab assistant in BKM Science College, Valsad, although accepting bribe of Rs 13,000 by a BCom student to assist him clean the examination.
The accused Prashant Patel was held following a group headed by authorities inspector K Saxena, of ACB Valsad, put a snare at Valsad circuit home by which the accused had begun to collect the cash.
Patel is a contractual worker in the school.
The complainant is a third-year BCom pupil and he’d failed in 1 subject sooner.
He came to understand by friends that Patel helped pupils clear examinations through his connections.
The complainant approached Patel, who consented to assist him to get Rs 17,000.
The complainant compensated Patel Rs 2,000 as first payment.
Afterwards Patel vanished and despite several efforts by the complainant couldn’t contact him.
“The complainant then ready on his own and then cleared the examination.
Following the outcome, Patel contacted the complainant and wanted back his money,” stated an ACB officer.
Considering that the complainant had eliminated the test by himself, he refused to cover.
However, the accused maintained pressurising him.
After discussions, Patel consented about Rs 13,000.
When Patel arrived to collect the amount on Monday if the ACB group nabbed him.
