College wants to open immediately, after investing staff, students

Mangaluru: College in Dakshina Kannada clamped hope from class on campus immediately, after the first dose vaccine was given to staff and students.
In less than four days, the district has been vaccinated by almost 25,992 students and staff, of 1.8 LAKH beneficiaries targeted for inoculation against Covid-19 to 30 June.
According to Dr.
B V Rajesh, reproductive child health workers, Dakshina Kannada, all beneficiaries tend to be vaccinated with the first dose on July 15.
“At present, we have reached 15% of our target, of a total of 1,78,968 beneficiaries.
The coverage of the country as a whole is 10.4%, as on June 30,” he said.
The accelerated vaccination process has turned on expectations among educational institutions, which have been closed for months.
Mangalore University must stop the Odd Semester Undergraduate examination in the middle, because of the locking and strike of the KSRTC bus.
Postgraduate examination is also delayed.

At St Agnes College, almost 70% of staff and students have received their first vaccine jab.
During the last trip, close to 1,000 beneficiaries vaccinated on campus.
Sister Venissa, Principal, St Agnes College, said that Covid-19 has led them to strange times.
“With all of them vaccinated immediately, we were patiently waiting for the arrival of students to campus,” he said.
Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor P S Yadapadithaya said the University has appointed three Nodal officers in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu under her jurisdiction, to oversee the vaccination drive.
“Students from outside the state and abroad have also been told to be vaccinated,” he added.
After opening, the University plans to complete a delayed examination, and announce the earliest results.
Yadapadithaya said that 30% of the odd semester scholar exam was waiting, and that the postgraduate examination was not done at all.
The online class for undergraduate and postgraduate courses has even begun.
“Our first plan is to complete the examination of undergraduate and postgraduate and start classes on campus, and declare the earliest results,” Yadapitithaya said.
Nearly 50% of staff and students at the Mangalagaothri campus in Konaje have been vaccinated.
According to sources, the state government’s decision to reopen universities for classes on campus will be taken earlier, based on the percentage of vaccination coverage.
