Kolkata: Some universities are scheduled to meet or form a committee to develop a method for filtering candidates before recognizing them to this year’s undergraduate program.
After different board boards – both state and national – canceling their class XII exams because of a pandemic, the principal has been worried about how to assess prospective talents for the subject they will apply as a formula designed will consider students’ performance in class X boards and annual examinations Class XI and the subject concerned may be fully abandoned.
Candidates may make it a cut-off for certain subjects because the new sign is calculated, without taking a test on the subject in the last two years.
Boards and the Board aim to publish the results of class XII in July-end.
Most of the principals felt the formula of the Board and a different board may not reflect applicant’s talent for certain subjects because the annual class XI test cannot be completed last year due to locking.
“The reception committee meeting is scheduled for this week.
We will discuss how best we can filter applicants but we will go with the direction of Calcutta University and the state government,” said Indrila Guha, the principal of Basanti Devi College.
The Birla Institute, who receives the application, will hold an online interaction with applicants before receipt.
At Jadavpur University, the head of the department has held internal discussions before meeting the academic committee.
“There is a consensus on several types of screening before receipt of UG.
Screening method will be discussed in this weekend meeting,” said an HOD in Ju.
Universities, such as Lady Brabourne, have asked the head of their department to overcome the formula to evaluate candidates above and above the board mark.
“We need a kind of criteria for testing candidates before compiling a list of services.
We have held a meeting with our acceptance committee.
In the absence of acceptance tests, thehods will compile formulas to assess the talent of the candidates,” said Siuli Sarkar, Lady Brabourne Principal.
St Xavier’s College will begin receiving applications as soon as the board results are published.
City College in North Kolkata held a meeting on Monday to form a committee.
