Collegium chose 3 women for SC, one to become the first woman Cji

New Delhi: Collegium led by Judge NV Ramana has chosen nine names to fill as many vacancies in the Supreme Court, including three unprecedented women, one of them – Nagarathna BV justice from Karnataka HC – can be the first woman in India .
Other names were selected to be recommended to the Government to appoint as HC Bombay Judges), Gujarat HC Chairman of Judge Vikram Nath (HC HC Allahabad), Chairman of Justice Sikkim HC JK Maheshwari (Parent HC Madhya Pradesh), Justice CT Ravi Kumar and MM Sundaresh (both parents HC Madras).

Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh did not have a representation in SC for a long time and even though there was a judge with the necessary seniority available in the pool, their aspirations had been handled by the Collegium at Tuesday night meetings.
