Collegium clears the name to fill in vacancies in SC

New Delhi: Collegium led by the Chairman of India Judge N V Ramana met on Tuesday night and understood to have cleared the name for the appointment of the Supreme Court Judge, who currently has nine jobs.
SC source cannot confirm the actual number of names removed by the Collegium, which also consists of your Judge U Lalit, a M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and L N Rao.
As a result of a complete traffic jam with a collegium for almost two years, vacancies in SC have increased to nine with pension justice R F Nariman.
SC has the power of sanctions of 34 judges, but it functions now with a strength of 25 judges.
Vacancies will increase to 10 after justice Navin Sinha retirement on Wednesday, August 18.
