New Delhi: The Supreme Court has recommended the names of eight judges for appointment as the main judge in various high courts throughout the country.
Acting Chief Judge of Caluta High Court Judge Rajesh Bindal is among the eight judges recommended by the upper court.
Justice Bindal was appointed as chairman of the Calcutta High Court judge on April 29, because the vote entered West Bengal.
He was trapped in a deadlock between the Trinamool and Central Congress after the election in the state.
These sources said the colleagium of three members was led by the Chairman of the Indian Judge N V Ramana, recommended that Bindal justice was transferred as Chair of the High Court of Allahabad.
It has also recommended that the Chairman of the Hakit Judge of the High Court Akil Qureshi be transferred to the Rajasthan High Court.
Besides Allahabad, the Calcutta High Court, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Telengana, Meghalaya, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh will get a new main judge.
Kolegium has recommended the transfer of the main justice of Andhra Pradesh, Arup Kumar Goswami’s High Court to the Chhattisgarh High Court, Head of Justice Madhya Pradesh Justice Mohd Rafiq to the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
This has recommended the transfer of the main justice of Rajasthan Indrajit High Court Indrajy to Tripura High Court and Meghalaya Chief Justice High Court Biswanath Somadder to the Sikkim High Court.
In addition to Bindal Judges, Collegium has recommended the names of Judge Prakash Srivastava, Prashant Kumar Mishra, Ruar Raja Awasthi, Satish Chandra Sharma, Ranjit V more, Aravind Kumar and R V Malimath to appoint them as the main judge throughout the country.
They said the names of Judge Prakash Srivastava, Prashant Kumar Mishra and Ritu Raja Raj Awasthi have been recommended for appointment as the main judge of the Calcutta High Court, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
Collegium, on September 3, has made 68 recommendations including 10 female judges, for the appointment to the High Court.
However, the center has not acted on these names so far.
