Collins won Clash Mertens to reach the Australian Open quarter-finals

Melbourne: Danielle Collins won the friction battle in a hot heat to overhaul Elise Mertens 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 and ordered its second quarter-finals at the Australian Open on Monday.
In a reckless of the ex-tiring finalist, the 27th seed of America won the victory with a series of powers that hit when Mertens served to remain in the match.
Belgium Mertens saved two match points, the second with a brave second service, but then gently gave up on the third with a double error.
Collins will play the winner of Simona Halep and Alize Cornet for a place in the semi-finals.
