Kolkata: Citizens and Green Activists have called for ending ‘plants, cages and forget’ practicing during the yellow tree plantation drive and demanding the trees being canceled from old rusty iron cages that have long lasted long.
While some rusty tree guards have been embedded in tree trunks, others have turned into a trash can strangling trees.
Installing a cage when the plantation drive is done is an old inheritance that comes from a few decades, when cattle and goats explore city streets.
The eviction of the khatal or urine from the city in the early 1980s ended the challenges of the main survival for the anus.
Arjan Basu Roy, who runs the Nature Mates Group Action environment, which helps trees transplant and cleanses the body of the water, confusedly why the metal tree guard was not removed after a few years when the young tree grew into a small tree into a small tree.

That way, the trees will be less susceptible to the storm in the future,” said a horticulture.
If some types of protection are still required to stop people from pulling out young plants to make space for parking on the sidewalk, Kakkar says they don’t have to be a metal enclosure that ultimately do more damage to the tree than goodness.
Instead, he suggested using Darma or mats that were woven from the bamboo strip as a protective barrier because of biodegradable.
Some iron guards have turned into garbage that makes the fate of thin trees, friends have urged KMC and the Urban Forestry Forestry Division of the Ministry of Forestry to allow it to free shackle trees.
“We will be happy to do it for free,” said Basu Roy.
“We have also found this bile turning into a threat.
We have asked our official Borough-Wise to take appropriate action,” said the KMC Parks Department official.
