Kolkata: Rabindra Sarobar, Sarobar Subhas and all the big parks in Kolkata will be reopened from Monday.
Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) and Kolkata Municipal Corporation Authority (KMC) acknowledged the demands of senior citizens and morning pedestrians and decided to reopen the lake and park under their jurisdiction since Monday.
KMDA officials, Custodian Rabindra and Sarobar Subhas, said that the lake will be reopened for three hours every day – starting at 6am to 9 in the morning – for group permits of age group 18+.
A KMC department official on Saturday said the park would be reopened for morning pedestrians for three hours in the morning – 6am to 9am.
Again, the park will open for three hours from 3pm.
The decision to reopen the park was taken after the Civic Brass began to receive the appeal from residents throughout Kolkata.
Most pedestrian pedestrians Rabindra Sarobar repeatedly asked the government authority to allow the lake to be reopened for several hours in the morning.
Part of them even wrote to the head of the Secretary of State and KMDA.
Kmda has continued the proposal to the urban development department last week.
“We thank the Urban Development Department and Kmda because it allows morning pedestrians to enter the lake for their morning walks, which will help them to improve their physical immunity and fitness.
The morning pedestrian was asked to keep a safe distance and use a mask,” The Word of the neighborhood of Result Mohan Ghosh.
Ghosh added that the authorities must also consider reopening the lake from 4pm to 6pm immediately for those who prefer daily roads at night.
The reopening of the park will take place in the phase.
In the first phase, all large parks have been reopened.
In the next phase, small and medium-sized gardens will be opened for residents.
“We received several requests from residents, especially from morning pedestrians, to reopen the park.
Then we took problems with Civic Brass, which easily approved and gave a nod,” said a KMC official.
However, reopening the small park in the neighborhood where Covid cases are still increasing will be kept away from the boundaries of residents.
“We cannot risk reopening the park where some Covid cases are still active.
And those who will be allowed to enter a large park need to follow the Covid protocol,” said a citizenship official.
Swati Ghosh, a resident of Lake View Road and a senior citizen, welcomed the decision.
“This is the need for hours.
As morning pedestrians, I feel really limited,” Ghosh said.
In a new city, there are several parks managed by NKDA and the residents there also want the park to reopen them.
NKDA officials said the Eco Park ring road was open for morning pedestrians where people experienced their daily roads.
“As for the park in the new city, there is not much request to reopen until now but will reopen them if there is a demand,” said an official.
