Kolkata: Residents of Kidderpore, Ekbalpore and Mominpore hope for some donkeys from the annual waterlogging misery, because Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) is getting ready to float the tender for the construction of the main drainage pumping station in Ekbalpore.
The construction of the Pumping Station of Drainage Crore Rs 78 is expected to begin in February this year with a one-year deadline given to its settlement, said a senior-senior official and the KMC drainage department.
According to a KMC official, the pump station has been planned to drain the storm water from the large racer area.
“When the drainage pumping station began to function, more than a resident of Lakh Karl Marx Sarani, Satya Doctor Road, Sudhir Bose Road, Dent Mission Road in Kidderpore will be able to get rid of waterlogging every monsoon,” said a KMC official.
Apart from the large racer area, the proposed pump station will also be proven to be beneficial for the population of Ekbalpore and Mominpore.
“This is one of the main drainage update projects for South Kolkata.
Drainage pumping stations have been planned to take care of misery around 2 Lakh populations in Kidderpore – Belt Ekberpore,” said a citizenship official.
The proposed drainage system will have six heavy duty pumps to drain the storm water area.
“At the moment we need to depend on the pumping station drainage mominpore to drain storm water from all kidderpore – ekbalpore belt.
However, some pumps at Pumping Station Mominpore drainage often falter and thus the water cannot be prevented during heavy rain,” said a drainage department official KMC.
Mohammed Aslam, a resident of Ekbalpore Road expressed hope.
“Every year before the monsun, we cross our finger.
Trial continues for more than two and a half months.
After one or two spells that are heavy, we are forced to live in the room.
Now, if the KMC appears with a solution, we will not only welcome the project These but if we need to expand our cooperation, “said Aslam.
The tender for the project will float at the end of January.
“Usually, such a project requires 48 months for settlement.
But we have set a one-year time limit for construction companies,” said KMC official.
