Kolkata: Bangladesh Jamaat-Ul-Mujahidin Module – Bengaldesh Terror Clothing – which was captured by the Kolkata Police (STF) police unit in a rented house in Haridevpur on Sunday, allegedly has a local “linkment” that provides support logistics to members, police said.
This module may be active for more than two months.
Police’s steepness was based on the interrogation accused of accused – Naziur Rahaman Pavel (22) aka Joyram BYapari, Mikail Khan aka SAM Sabbir (30) and Rabiul Islam (22) – who claimed to have been related to Haridevpur Resident Selim Munshi.
He moved himself as an umbrella and fruit trader and continued to change his speech, moved from one rental house to another, but never left Haridevpur for the past half a decade.
Munshi lost.
It was Munshi, who had arranged a room for Pavel, Sabbir and Islam, which he had introduced as “friends from Murshidabad”, raising fears he might have ensured a safe passage for other JMB extremists.
One of the three was related to Munshi, police said.
Probe revealed another “Linkman”, SK Shakeel, has promised to get aadhaar card for the three.
Shakeel, also lost.
“It’s certain that three men who were arrested received local assistance,” said an STF officer.
“Every telephone number is recorded in the diaries confiscated being examined.” Jihad literature is mostly in Bengali, suggest limited activities to Bengal.
Even though the arrest said they had stayed there for 45 days, locals said at least Sabbir had been around for more than eight months.
“He claimed to be here since June but many saw it longer,” said Jan Mohammad, a local.
Sabbir is a social media expert, his main job is recruitment and regulating funds.
“He will always be online,” said an officer.
Pavel is a relative of JMB Ideologue al-Amin, who, along with the commander of JMB Nahid Tasnim, is currently in Kashimpur prison in Bangladesh.
Police said the defendant came to Kolkata with two objectives: to raise funds and expand the organization.
“Some JMB leaders were imprisoned in Bangladesh and Gang needed funds to release it.
We asked the arrest to find if they planned a strike,” said an officer.
Terrorism against Bangladesh said in April, the main JMB has formed a robbery wing to raise funds.
STF said it grilled Pavel whether he had done a reception for robbery.
