Kolkata: After the proliferation of this rainy season when the entire area was flooded for weeks, Nayabad – an off bypass environment – set to get rid of the waterlogging misery.
Kolkata Municipal Corporation has taken a special drainage project for areas that will benefit thousands.
According to a proposal placed in the presence of the Administrator board three days ago, the Civic body will put underground drainage pipes that will connect Nayabad to the Garia Chak Drainage Pumping Station.

The reservoirnavahabad expressed their hopes for the Civic initiative.
Chanchal Kar, a KMC official and a resident of Nayabad, said it was a long-standing demand for Nayabad to connect the environment to a better network of drainage to save them from inundation.
“We hope that the drainage update project will bring aid a lot of awaited from the waterlogging of each monsoon,” Kar said.
According to a KMC official, the proposal was passed by the majority of board members.
“The necessary funds have been approved and we hope to implement the project,” KMC official said.
Besides Nayabad, residents of Mukundapur and Chhit Kalikapur will also benefit from drainage pumping stations built in Chhit Kalikapur waiting for the inauguration on Sunday.
According to a KMC official, the pump station will ensure the storm water quickly from the large area of Mukundapur and Chhit Kalikapur.
“Apart from the locals, a large number of patients navigate knee or deeply to visit some private hospitals in the Mukundapur region every rainy season will also benefit when the pump station starts to function,” the official said.
Madhumita Ghosh, a resident of Mukundapur and private company employees, “Finally, steps are taken to reduce water misery in our environment.
