Kolkata: The Civic body has begun sending health workers to households throughout the city with a coupon that will ensure a vaccination slot without queuing at the Civic vaccination center.
This door-to-door visit by health workers was launched last week and will continue until the end of this month, said a senior health department Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) official.
The coupon distribution scheme is planned after swimming in the number of second-dose recipients at the Civic Clinic, said an official.
According to the plan, the Ministry of Health KMC has assigned three honorary health workers for each of the 144 people spread throughout the city and each of them was given a target of visiting 100 households every day.
“We have set a target to reach around 43,000 households a day to track people who are not vaccinated in each of these households.

Thousands in Kolkata continued to wait for their second dose in June-July, a period that also saw vaccine equipment slowed.
According to a KMC official, another reason behind swimming in the number of second-dose recipients is that senior citizens are afraid of the construction crowd at the Civic vaccination clinic.
“Some of our vaccination clinics, especially those in the southern edge and the area located in the center, have witnessed waves of recipients from various parts of the south and North 24 parganas.
