Kolkata: Metro will now operate on Sundays too.
Important workers from cross-sector can use the lifeline on Sundays, starting August 29 as a special maintenance train – as a sustainable service – starting at 10am to 10:00 will be provided along the North-South corridor.
From August 21, the operator will also make a special train operation on Saturday continuous – starting at 8 am to 10pm, and increasing the number of trains from 104 to 172.
Saturday peak hours will be at an 8-minute interval.
Metro will also run 172 services on Friday due to Muhurram.
In all 165 services will be run between Kavi Subhash and Dakshineswar at an 8-minute interval in the morning and night rush hour.
On Sunday, there will be 112 services (56 in each direction) between the Kavi subhas and Dakshineswar station, running at a 10-minute interval during rush hour morning and night.
The last train will leave the Kavi Subhas station and Dum Dum at 9pm and from Dakshineswar at 8.48 a night.
The Metro train continued the operation on July16 after 61 days of covidinduced suspension.
With the public prohibited using services during weekends, Metro has offered 104 special staff on Saturdays for those who need to attend work.
With the state government that calms the night limit, Metro Railway has increased the operation of the night north-south one hour from Monday.
