PANAJI: Approximately 50 offenders at Colvale central prison from Nigeria and other African countries have denied the Covid-19 vaccine, baffling officials.
Much since the government has obtained the vaccination drive into the prison, so many offenders have got their very first jab, including a number of foreigners.
“We do not understand just why, but they (the Africans) have denied vaccination, but we’ve taken up counseling of all inmates, such as Nigerians who are hesitant to get vaccinated, so to eliminate their misconception concerning the vaccine,” explained a prison officer.
The majority of these are serving time under the NDPS Act or are undertrials The counseling sessions have been conducted a week, along with the officer stated that greater jailbirds will be happy to receive inoculated after counseling, and (the other ) session could be held for these.
The prison has set in place steps to keep everybody safe from Covid-19, but also need all offenders to have vaccinated, ” he explained.
