Come before the flight stop, Govt told India in Afghanistan

New Delhi: With security situations in Afghanistan continue to deteriorate, the government has “strongly suggested” Indians to make travel arrangements for their returns before commercial air service was stopped.
When the advanced Taliban troops raised an attack on Mazar-I-Sharif, the largest city in Afghanistan in the north, the government on Tuesday evacuated Indian citizens in and around the city, including consulate staff, by a special IAF flight night.
In accordance with international media reports, thousands of people have escaped from the Mazar-i-Sharif and an adjoining area.
As in Kandahar, where also the government has recently evacuated Indian citizens, the Indian Consulate in Mazar-i-Sharif will continue to function with local staff.
In a fresh security advisor, the third since late June, the Indian Embassy in Kabul also suggested Indian companies operating in Afghanistan to immediately attract their Indian employees from the project location before air travel services were stopped.
It asks Indian citizens who work for domestic or foreign companies in Afghanistan to immediately ask their employers to facilitate their journey from the project site to India given the land situation.
It is said that violence in many parts of Afghanistan has increased and commercial air travel services to many provinces and the city are stopped.
About 1,500 Indians currently live in Afghanistan.
Embassy said the advisor also applies to Indian journalists working in Afghanistan.
“It is very important that all Indian media come / live in Afghanistan to establish contact with public affairs and the security wings of the embassy for personalized briefings, including special advice for the location they travel,” he said.
