Come: E-Cycle Docking Station in 80 places in Delhi

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation has completed the tender process for installation, maintenance and operating the e-cycle docking station in 80 locations.
It will issue a allotment letter to the concession holder in the next 60 days to install stations in residential areas, parking lots and metro stations and provide solutions for the latest connectivity immediately.
80 sites were identified after a shared survey conducted by PWD, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and SDMC.
Tender has also been published in June but does not trigger an offer, force SDMC to repeat the process, said Prem Shankar Jha, Deputy Commissioner, Remunerative and Project Cell, SDMC.
This project, which is conceived to encourage the use of public transportation, is waiting to be implemented for a long time.
“Maybe because of Covid’s pandemic, we did not have a response to the first tender,” said a citizenship official.
“Also, this project requires a large investment because the cost of e-cycles is very high compared to the normal cycle.
The settings station also involves a lot of money.” Some places where this docking station will appear in priority is Lajpat Nagar, Harkkath Nagar Metro Station, Greater Kailour I, Rajouri Garden, Green Park, Janakpuri, Hauz are typical, Qutub Minar, AIIMS, Safdarjung, Punjabi Bagh and Tilak Nagar.
Unlike cycle stations developed in nine places in Corridor BRT and simultaneously opened for advertising stockpiling, no facilities like that will be permitted for concession holders at this 80 e-bicycle stations.
“The concession holder will generate revenue from user costs,” said an official.
SDMC hopes to get Rs 4.5 lakh as a monthly rentals from these stations.
People who want to use facilities must register in the SDMC application and then hire e-bike for a maximum of up to 10 hours.
The amount will increase at the level of Rs 10 per hour.
Because the docking site was identified after a shared inspection and after analyzing leading points to provide the first and final military connectivity with public transportation, officials said they expected a problem when the plan was carried out.
E-cycles are operated with batteries, running at speeds of 15-20kmph and have a pedal option too.
“Concession holders can track the movement and position of e-bikes through a wireless system that also has real-time monitoring of occupancy rates of stations,” the official said.
At each docking station, 12 bicycles can be parked.
The room for 4-5 other bikes will remain free at any time to allow people to come from other places in South Delhi to leave electronic bicycles.
“Based on the response to this facility, we will increase the number of stations,” the official said.
