Chandigarh: The city will get the second material recovery facilitation center in a few weeks.
The Ambitious RS 10-Crore project from the Civic body will be in the industrial area, Phase I, close to the CTU workshop.
This center will separate garbage collected from residential and commercial areas around a dozen sectors and from regions in Manimajra and Mauli Jagran.
As many as three centers like that must appear in cities in different locations.
The first was inaugurated by the Governor of Punjab and the UT administrator VP Singh Badnore at 3BRD last month.
The third center will be in sector 25 near the waste processing plant, but it will take longer.
About 150 vehicles of twin garbage collectors will collect waste from their respective regions and bring garbage collected to the center in the industrial area, phase I.
here, dry and wet waste will be separated through a mechanical system.
After that wet and dry waste will be loaded separately in large bars in the middle and taken to a waste processing plant.
“Instead of 150 door-to-door waste collectors, only 8 large kanter will go to the waste processing plant to process the entire garbage produced by a dozen sectors, manimajra and mauli jagran, avoiding all types of vehicles.
In addition, after doing work , all 150 vehicles will be parked in a side by side.
The special parking area will also be provided here, “said an official.
The concepts and construction of the centers in Chandigarh are part of the management of solid waste in the city, which the city corporation also said to the National Green Court.
The third function and monitoring of the Center will be carried out by the Civic Body Sanitation Department.
The cost of the third center is estimated at RS 31 Crore.
Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL) has built a project, while the MC will run these centers.
