Community housing under the scanner for waste treatment as a NGT Slams Noida

Noida: National Green Tribunal (NGT) recently dropped on the Noida Authority and the Pollution Control Board of Uttar Pradesh and expressed unhappiness of the way they deal with waste produced by the community housing group since 1, 2019.
After the case was archived at the disposal of waste and treatment by community housing groups in Noida in 2018, the Pollution Control Board and Authority have carried out together inspections in all 95 groups of housing groups in Noida and submitting reports to the court.
During inspections, teams have found that waste treatment plants installed only at 72, but only 12 people have a treatment plant that is in accordance with the norms of the Ministry of Environment and follow zero waste norms.
The court has now asked for authority to start criminal acts of the wrong society and force a penalty – around Rs 8.40 Crore each – to them because it causes environmental hazards.
Green panels also make strong objections to work authority and ask them to issue a job certificate in part to the developer only if STP is made functional before the family is allowed to move.
On Wednesday, the Head of the Executive Office Ritu Maheshwari said they would now carry out new inspections to check the standard of release of Faecal Coliform and start criminal acts or impose punishment for the wrong society.
“We have recorded points raised by the court.
The new action plan is being prepared and will be implemented.
Some developers have been looking for time to complete STP work until January and we will revisit these projects.
Strong action against violators will be taken.
Department of Water and Sewerage has been directed not to leave a gap while checking compliance, “Maheshwari said.
The applicant in this case, Abhisht K Gupta, meanwhile, said that while the authority had done some work in the past six months, many still remain.
“Only a handful of people who follow the norm of zero wastewater.
Authority needs to focus on the community in the 7x sector because thousands of families have moved,” he said.
Amit Gupta, a resident of Pratek Wisterek Sector 77, said, “I have sent photos and videos of people who issue waste water directly to sewers in sectors 74 and 75 to authority but actions are rarely initiated.” Gupta also shows the pollution control board and Noida Authority must work together to enforce better waste release norms.
