Mangaluru: Interstate commuter from Kerala, especially those from Kasaragod Regency, a vaccination certificate burned as a sign of protest against the government of Karnataka.
The protesters questioned the validity of Karnataka rules which mandated the negative report RT-PCR instead of a vaccination certificate for commuters between states in Dakshina Kannada.
The leaders of political parties, organizations and daily commuters from Kasaragod, who worked in Dakshina Kannada, held protests near Talapady Check Post who opposed restrictions on Covid-19 Dakshina Kannada.
Katasagod District Panchayat Development Committy Standing Chairman Harshad Vorkady said that even though the Supreme Court has directed the country not to disturb the inter-country movement, the Karnataka government has imposed severe restrictions on the border.
“People from Kasaragod Regency and other parts of Kerala were made to suffer from border restrictions.
The central government has directed that those who have taken two vaccine doses should not be prevented from the inter-state movement.
Therefore, the Head of Minister of Baseavarj Basavari Basavari must review his decision and Allows people from Kerala, who have received a vaccine dose, to enter Karnataka, “Vorkady said.
Meanwhile, the Manjeshwar unit from the Indian Democratic Youth Federation (Dyfi), CPI (M) and CPI also protested against RT-PC Report negative reports for commuter interstate.
The protesters blocked Karnataka – Kerala National Highway.
Kasaragod District collector Bhandari Swagat Ranveerchand visited Talapady and took a stock situation.
Meanwhile, the protesters reveal their complaints with collectors and seek immediate intervention to open borders between countries between Kasaragod and Dakshina Kannada District.
Restrictions continued at the interstate limit of Dakshina Kannada District on Monday.
People are permitted to enter the coastal district only with RT-PCR negative reports.
Dakshina Kannada District has made interstate supervision strict after August 2 after a surge in the number of positive cases in coastal districts.
