Port-au-Prince: Great Earthquake 7.2 Struck Haiti on Saturday, with epicenter around 125 kilometers (78 miles) west of the Port-au-Prince capital, said US geological survey.
The earthquake caused “some” death and damage to the southern region of the Caribbean state, said Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry on Twitter.
People in the capital felt the earthquake and many who rushed to the streets in fear, even though there seemed to be no damage there.
Naomi Verneus, a resident of the 34-year-old Port-au-Prince, said he jerked up with an earthquake and his bed trembled.
“I wake up and don’t have time to put my shoes.
We underwent an earthquake in 2010 and what I can do is run away.
I then remember my two children and my mother was still inside.
My neighbor entered and told them to do it out.

Poor countries, where many lives are weak, vulnerable to earthquakes and storms.
It was shocked by the 5.9 earthquake in 2018 which killed more than a dozen people, and magnitude 7.1 a very large earthquake that damaged many of the capital in 2010 and killed around 300,000 people.
The National Storm Center has estimated that Grace Storm Tropical will reach Haiti Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
